Frequently Asked Questions
Can Bitkosh issue our ISO 9001 certificate?
No. An ISO 9001 certificate can only be issued by an accredited certification body, and that body has to stay independent of the organisation it audits — a consultant who prepared you cannot also certify you. We handle the readiness side and prepare you for that external audit. We are happy to explain how to select an accredited body, but we do not issue the certificate and no legitimate consultant does.
How long does ISO 9001 readiness take?
For a small or mid-sized Odisha manufacturer, typically three to six months before the certification audit. The variable is rarely the documentation — it is how much of the process is already written down and how quickly the records for each control can be produced.
What does ISO 9001 actually require?
A documented quality management system covering context and scope, leadership commitment, risk and opportunity planning, competence and resources, controlled operations, monitoring and measurement, internal audit, management review and continual improvement. The 2015 revision is deliberately less prescriptive about paperwork than earlier versions and more concerned with whether the system works.
Do you visit sites outside Bhubaneswar?
Yes. We are based in Kataka and work across Odisha, including the Jajpur, Angul, Rourkela and Paradip industrial areas. On-site work in the state does not carry the travel loading a consultancy flying in from another city would add.
Is ISO 9001 worth it for a small MSME?
It depends on whether your customers or the tenders you bid for ask for it. If they do, it is straightforwardly worth it. If nobody is asking, the honest answer is that the underlying process discipline is worth more to you than the certificate, and we would rather tell you that than sell you a certification you do not need.
